About the Board
Per the AB 104 legislation requirements, all Adult Education Consortium Boards statewide are comprised of representatives from each district that receives funding from the state either through California Adult Education Program (CAEP) or several other programs (see the AB 104 legislation for more information). District representatives are picked by their district’s board of trustees to be a voting member on the GAEN consortium board. The consortium boards are entrusted with developing and implementing annual and three-year plans, which include the allocation of CAEP funds. Approval of plans is decided by the consortium board, but public feedback is highly valued therefore all final decisions on funding allocation will be made at public board meetings.
The GAEN consortium board is comprised of one representative from each of the nine participating districts. However, board members are allowed to send substitutes to meetings in order to make sure each district has a representative at the meetings. For more information on the GAEN Consortium Board regulations, please read the bylaws (approved as of 11/6/2015).
